In reply to Lindsey Bellavia. Lindsey, we went in early August. There was a very small trickling stream before the scree started on the last bit of the hike to get up to the camps

I believe “Biv” is short for Bivouac. A temporary minimalist shelter.

In reply to Tristan Schuler. What time of year did you guys go? We have a permit for July 14-16 this year. Is there a trail to get down to Doubtful Lake for a water source or just view of the lake from the summit?

Wow! I have been looking into a trip like this for a few years and am getting ready to actually do it. We did a 16 day GAdventure in Costa Rica, and it was awesome. Your summary answered almost all of my many questions about this trip. Thank you very much. I especially liked your packing summary, and sim card comments. All valuable information. And well organized too.

It looks like both GAdventures and TourHub do versions of this trip. I have yet to figure out how they differ. Seem pretty similar, and it is really hard to make up my mind.

I’d love to go there this fall, but when do you think is too late in the season? Also, how do you get permits and how hard is it to get them?
